How I "Cured" My Nails

Hey everyone!  Sorry it's been so long since my last post.  It's been a busy past few days!  Let me tell you registering a new Kindergartener for school is expensive and stressful!!

I wanted to do a post on an issue that I myself have had in the past, as well as a lot of people I know.  A lot of friends and family always ask me how can they fix dry and brittle nails.  I myself battled terribly thin nails that would peel and break excessively, this incase you didn't know is not very attractive.  My nails have DRASTICALLY improved over the last few months, and this is how I basically cured my terrible nails.

One of the most important things you can do when you are wanting to change the condition of your nails, skin, or hair is to change yourself from within.  What I mean by this is changing your diet.  The most important thing to change about your diet is your water consumption.  Drink more water.  Simple as that.  Also eating a well balanced diet is very important, not only for your appearance but your over all health.  Making sure you get enough protein in your diet can significantly help the health of your nails as well.  You can also take supplements like prenatal vitamins.  I personally started taking fish oil and calcium supplements which are great for your nails.

You also want to make sure you moisturize your nails.  I use OPI avoplex oil.  It really moisturizes my nails and cuticles and it smells amazing.

The other key to helping my nails was OPI's Original Nail Envy.  It cost about $16 but for me it was totally worth EVERY penny.  I am currently on my second bottle.  There are a few different formulas of OPI Nail envy, but the one I use is the original formula.  What you do is the first day you apply two coats to each nail, then every other day you apply one coat, at the end of the week you take it off and start over with two coats.  I really recommend this product to strengthen your nails.

Hopefully all these tips will help you if you have problem nails :).

EOTD: Summer Fields

I wasn't going to post today but a bit ago I was feeling pretty bored as the rest of the fam was watching scooby doo.  So I did what I usually do, I locked myself in "The Makeup Room" :).  Some of my inspiration came from the latest video MakeupGeek put out on youtube and changed some things.  I had a lot of fun creating this look.  It is very summery, bright, and happy.  I really hope you all enjoy, and find some inspiration.

Coastal Scents 78 Color pallate
Mac Macroviolet Fluidline
MAC shadows in Sunny Spot, Fig1, Aquadisiac, Steamy

I used some other things too but these are the main things I used :)

NOTD: Mother Daughter Manicure

My daughter has been begging me to paint her nails "green with a picture"  for a week now.  I kept putting it off because lets be honest, painting a 4 year olds nails is a pain in the you know what as it is, and then she likes to bite the polish off within a couple of hours if she hasn't already messed up the nails before then.  But today I gave in and here is our NOTD.  Enjoy.

For her base color I used China Glaze in Watermelon Rind
For my base color I used China Glaze in Mommy Kissing Santa

and for the flowers I used OPI Alpine Snow and Sally Hanson Xtreme Wear in Mellow Yellow

Review: Tokidoki Brush Set

I wanted to do a review for you on my favorite eye brushes.  I got the Tokidoki eye brush set from Sephora  back in March, and I absolutely adore it.

You get three brushes in this set for $35 which is very reasonable.  For good quality brushes like MAC you can spend upwards of $35 a brush.  These brush set is perfect for creating any eye look.  You have all the brushes you need in this one set.

You have a crease/blending brush.  This brush is my favorite of the three.  It is small enough where you can get a pretty precise line in the crease, but also fluffy and soft enough to really blend out those crease colors.

You also get a basic eyeshadow brush.  You can use this to pack color onto the lid, use it for your highlight color on the brow, or even highlight on the inner eye.

You also get an angled brush.  This brush can be used for eyebrows, eyeliner, color under your eye, or even used to build a cut crease.

The thing I love about these brushes besides the obvious adorable factor, is how soft they are.  The aren't scratchy or hard.  They also haven't shed on me at all since I got them.  They do a very good job for what they are designed to do.  Two downsides are, since the brushes are white they do get stained by eyeshadows as you can tell  by my pictures, but that is with all white bristled brushes.  The other downside is due to the design of the brush they are a little heavier than your typical eye brush, but this doesn't really bother me.

You can pick this set up online or at your local sephora.

Review: Milani Liquid Liner in Infinite 01

I had a request from a friend to hurry up and do some more reviews from the haul I posted a few days ago. :)  Here is a picture of that friend when I did her makeup and hair about a year ago.

So the next product I am going to review is the Milani Liquid Liner in Infinite 01.

This product says, " A waterproof formula that wears comfortably with full color intensity."

The liner brush is a bristle type brush rather than a felt tip which I prefer to felt tip, the brush is a little wider than other brushes I have used.  This is all about preference though.

Here is a swatch of the color on my hand.

Overall I think this is a great product for the price of $5.99.  The color is a very vibrant and beautiful blue.  Its great for a pop of color in a neutral eye.  If you aren't comfortable wearing blue eyeshadow but want some blue in your life, this would be a great alternative to having an entire look of blue.  I tried washing the eyeliner swatch off my hand with soap and water and it did. not. budge. at all!  So it stays true to the waterproof claim, as far as it being wearable for up to 24 hours I haven't tested that.  One thing that is a little odd to me is the consistency of the product.  It is very thick and goopy like, where as most liquid liners I am used to are pretty runny.  Also it can be a bit streaky because of the consistency so I found that I had to layer it on a bit, but once you get it on it is beautiful.

I would give this product a 4 out of 5 stars.  I will be looking into purchasing other colors in the future.

Contest looks and Friends Graduations

Hey guys!  So I wanted to post a few looks today that I have done on friends.  A couple are from contests I did in beauty school and some looks are looks I did on friends for their graduations.  Hope you enjoy the looks as much as I enjoyed doing them!

This first look comes from a contest we did where the theme was birds.  We went for black swan and went with the look from the movie.  The hair, nails, and outfit where put together by different members of my group, and the makeup was done by myself.  We had a lot of fun putting this together.

The next look comes from another contest I did in cosmo school.  This look was a collaboration with a friend of mine.  He also did the hair.

The next couple of pictures are of looks I did for my friends, for their graduations from Cosmo School.

The next couple looks are just looks I did for fun on friends.

Hope you enjoyed viewing these looks that I created.  Hope you all have a great and safe week.  <3
